Posted October 15, 2018 12:13:52A medical examiner’s report on a man who died after falling into a ditch in a rural area of Maine is “very concerning,” according to a release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.
The report says the unidentified man, whom the coroner identified as William G. McLean, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident at the end of a gravel road in the town of Bellefonta.
The coroner says the victim’s death was an accidental drowning, though it’s not clear whether the victim was intentionally taken down.
The report notes McLean’s cause of death was “undetermined.”
The report is the latest in a string of medical examiner reports in Maine, which has a total of more than 1,200.
Maine is known as the state that killed people, with one person dying in Maine each day.
The state has had at least five cases of death due to hypothermia since February, when it recorded its lowest recorded temperature in over two years.
A spokesman for the department, Dave Stahl, told The Associated Press that the medical examiner will continue to investigate the case.
